In the fictional town of Beauville, anything is possible.
Annabelle Macon left home to become somebody. When fired from her job in New York, she's anxious to come home. Home is where the heart is, and her heart has always been set on Jackson Storme. But when opportunity presents Anna with an exciting new job back in New York, she doesn't know what to do.
Sheriff Jackson Storme is happy being deemed a player. He hasn't found the one woman to call his own, and that's okay with him. When his baby sister pulls up to the Fourth of July picnic and her passenger steps out, Jackson realizes his woman has made herself known.
Will Anna and Jackson's fire only burn for one night, or can he convince her that the best burn is A Slow Burn...
Break out the fireworks and get ready to kick-off your summer with this HOT new collection of stories. A Slow Burn is part of the Red Hot and BOOM multi-author series! (Stands alone for your reading enjoyment.)
While a quick read, A Slow Burn is packed with sizzling heat and Jackson. Oh, Jackson. I'd have a hard time saying no to him, too! Even if I was pretty sure my heart was about to be stomped on - he's THAT good. He's the perfect alpha male. If you're looking for a read to get your heart pumping, this is a great one to do exactly that.
I liked how the tables are turned in this story with Anna expecting a one night stand and Jackson looking for something long term with her. In romances, usually it's the other way around, and so this was a refreshing change. It made me realize how smart Anna is with knowing Jackson's history and her desire to protect herself.
My only issue with this story is Jackson's sudden decision that Anna's the only woman for him. He ignored her while they were growing up, is notorious for being a one night stand kind of guy, and doesn't really know her well. It didn't jive with his character; however, I'm positive there's a lot more to come for these two characters which may later help me understand his reasoning.
I really liked Anna from the start - she's intelligent, goes after what she wants, has ambition without being cutthroat, and generally seems to be a caring person. Anna and Jackson make a scorching hot pairing, and their chemistry was off the charts. They were so much fun to read about, and I want more of them and their story.
About the Author
There is really not much to say...I love to write, read, and listen to music. My attempt at a music career sadly ended at the Apollo one warm night in May. LOL (Side note: I was not booed just outdone by two munchkins rapping to Biggy Smalls; they were good.)
Military brat extraordinaire; have traveled to a lot of interesting places. This February I will be going over to the other side of the pond where I will spend two weeks in Europe. I will be in Cambridge, London, Paris, Versailles, Bruges, and hopefully Cardiff.
The very first time I put pen to paper in story fashion (for fun), was in 6th grade. The story was called, "The Case of the Missing Pepperoni." It was a cute mystery where all the ingredients and shop appliances came to life when the store owner closed up for the evening. See, pretty boring stuff. I always say I'm not the interesting one, but the people around me.
